You are likely reading this blog post on your phone, tablet or computer. You can digitally react by putting a like or writing a comment that I can access in a matter of seconds.

However, digitalization is not only about convenience and speed, it’s also about improving business outcomes.

Take ABB Electrification customers. They find economic benefits in using ABB AbilityTM Digital solutions to analyze, monitor, simulate, predict, control, and optimize their energy usage and improve the performance of their electrical assets. It all helps save costs, deliver higher efficiency and improve business performance. Digital technologies enable our customers to run their sites and operations safer, smarter and more sustainably.

What are we doing to help them achieve even more?

Our digital strategy is squarely focused on meeting customer needs. The 5 key pillars behind our ongoing efforts are:

1) More connected products with embedded intelligence

2) More digital services (we also refer to them as subscription-based software-as-a-service (SaaS))

3) Better digital customer experience (easy to navigate digital touchpoints e.g. via our website and the ABB Ability MarketplaceTM)

4) Simpler digital customer journey (from searching our products online to ordering them via e-commerce)

5) Better digital tools for our processes and interaction with customers

Let’s zoom on Pillar 2, which typically generates more questions than the others. Here we focus on creating SaaS in the areas of Energy, Assets, and Buildings management. By using these digital services, our customers can reduce their energy bills, improve electrical equipment assets utilization, and run more efficient buildings.

These digital products can be obtained on an annual subscription basis within a click of a mouse on https://marketplace.ability.abb/

How much do they cost? Well, in 2020 they are free.

With the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic being felt in almost all business sectors and economies around the world, ABB Electrification has announced that it will take measures to support its customers through this challenging time waiving charges for our digital solutions for 12 months.

This applies to ABB AbilityTM Electrical Distribution Control System (EDCS), ABB AbilityTM Backup Management for electrical systems (Data Care), ABB AbilityTM Asset Health for electrical systems (MyRemoteCare), a set of digital services for buildings, and iUPSGuard which, for example, allows hospitals and medical facilities to benefit from remote monitoring and diagnostics of any ABB or third-party uninterruptible power supplies, ensuring critical power is maintained.

The free digital services campaign, which we launched earlier this month in 26 countries, has already generated thousands of responses. ABB digital technologies are helping businesses and organizations around the world focus on the core of their business, while coping with the current extraordinary situation.

We remain committed to bringing market-leading digital products and services to enable digitalization of electrification.

Digital is not optional these days. It is an essential part of industry transformation, and I invite you to keep up with it by clicking here.  Also, checkout this short video on the ABB Ability MarketplaceTM.
